guidance to real estate licensees on issues

frequently asked of the attorneys at the Virginia

Association of REALTORS® by real estate

brokers. The lecture and materials are designed

to clear up common misconceptions and

misunderstandings about the legal obligations

of real estate licensees and the duties of real

estate brokers.

With the steady growth of social media, there’s

even more to keep brokers up at night. What is

a broker’s risk when their agents decide to

participate in the latest social media trends or

express something controversial? How much

responsibility does a broker have for what their

agents do “after hours?” Beyond just

advertising, what must (and should) brokers

supervise regarding their agents’ online

presence?

This class will cover what brokers must legally

supervise under the real estate board

regulations as well as what other policies they

can or cannot have without changing the

employment status of their agents.
